Sens’ Erik Karlsson Says Doctors Removed Half Of His Ankle Bone In Surgery.

Ottawa Senators captain Erik Karlsson revealed some rather astonishing news when speaking to reporters about his offseason foot surgery.

Karlsson had surgery in June to repair torn tendons in his foot due to an injury he sustained during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but Karlsson said that the surgery was more involved than that.

Karlsson told reporters on Wednesday that doctors removed half of his ankle bone in the surgery, according to Dean Brown of TSN1200.

The timetable for Karlsson’s return is still unclear although he is skating with the Senators currently.
